Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30AM - 4:00PM

First founded in Stockton, SWPC has been producing and providing 7-wire Prestressed Concrete (PC) strand since 1979. Our PC strand has been used to fortify thousands of construction projects, such as bridges, buildings, parking structures, and housing foundations. Additionally, we have two sister plants in Tennessee and Texas, both producing their own specialty wire. JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) Technician to support the verification and integrity of our PC strand products. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting and testing product quality using standard precision measurement tools, including micrometers and calipers, to ensure all dimensional requirements meet specification. You will serve as the primary operator of the tensile testing machine, performing mechanical evaluations critical to product performance. Working closely with Engineering, you will analyze test results to assess product quality and compliance. This position plays a vital role in determining whether our PC strand meets the rigorous standards required for shipment and use in critical American infrastructure projects.

QUALIFICATIONS
The QA Technician must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. These duties must be carried out with the utmost respect to honesty and integrity. The requirements listed below serve as a representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform and complete PC Strand Testing
- Interpret Strand Test Results
- Input Strand Test Results into internal Global Standard System
- Maintain accurate data collection records during inspections and audits for traceability and reporting purposes.
- Interpret Issue Reports
- Utilize analysis skills to identify root causes of quality issues and recommend corrective actions to improve product quality and process efficiency.
- Issue, collect, and repair Drawing Machine die inserts
- Perform weekly calibration of all QA measurement devices
- Perform monthly calibration of all production micrometers
- Backup wastewater
- Collaborate with production team to address quality concerns promptly while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- All other duties as signed by the management team

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in manufacturing environments with a focus on quality control or quality assurance roles.
- Hands-on experience with quality inspection techniques using calipers and micrometers
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret data accurately for process improvements.
- Experience conducting quality audits and managing documentation related to quality management systems.
LANGUAGE / SPEAKING SKILLS
- English
- Frequent need to verbally communicate with staff
- Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Basic mathematical skills
- Unit conversions
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Beginner to Intermediate skills is required for training and inspections.
- Microsoft Suite, primarily Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Basic Data Entry Skills
- Ability to navigate between folders on internal server

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Have the ability to detect and differentiate colors. (Necessary for accurate reading of internal color-coding systems)
- Occasional need (Up to 30%) to be on feet.
- Frequent need (30% to 70%) to perform the following physical activities:
- Bend/Stoop/Squat/Kneel - Perform routine machine inspections, pick up tools and needed supplies.
- Push or Pull - Move equipment, tools, supplies, etc.
- Reach Above Shoulder - Perform routine production related tasks, sting up machines and adjust equipment, parts, etc.
- Climb Ladders and Stairs Perform routine inspections from elevated platforms on the Plating Line.
- Continuous need (70%-100%) to perform the following physical activities:
- Writing – Document test results
- Grasp/Grip/Turning - Handle tools and equipment, perform routine machine adjustments.
- Finger Dexterity - Handle tools and equipment, perform routine machine adjustments, typing on computer keyboard.
- Lifting/carrying (supplies, finished goods, etc.):
- Over 150 lbs. Rare need (less than 1% of the time)
- 75 - 150 lbs. Occasional need (1% to 10% of the time)
- 25 - 75 lbs. Frequent need (10% to 33% of the time)
- 1 - 25 lbs. Constant need (33% to 100% of the time)
- NOTE: Lifting and carrying of weights exceeding 50 lbs. shall be accomplished with assistance from one or more persons, or with an engineered lifting device.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Indoors 90% of the time
- Outdoors 10% of the time, all conditions, as needed
- Occasional exposure (Up to 30%) to vapors, odors, fumes, gases, etc.
- Occasional exposure (Up to 30%) to work in awkward or confining positions.
